Dulcinea and my Lola

One of the forerunners of Pastries and Spanish Cuisine in Manila is Dulcinea.  It has been around since I was a child and forunately, it is still holding its fort despite it being in the shadows of the more popular ones.

Here are some Dulcinea classics which we had on a recent visit:

  • Baked Spaghetti
  • Salpicao con Gambas and Calamares
  • Churros con Chocolate

Yum!  It hit the spot!

Dulcinea not only brings back childhood memories but it also makes me remember my lola. You see, one of the reasons I’ve always liked dining in Dulcinea is that the food almost always reminds me of my maternal grandmother’s cooking. And I grew up eating my Lola’s food!  Sigh.  Childhood memories.  Once again, fun times.
