With the exception of the green beans, Jodie chose everything we ate at Din Tai Fung. Shrimp Fried Rice (“no, I don’t like the garlic fried rice. The shrimp is better”), Fried Mushroom vegetarian dumplings (“Let’s try this one, mom! I don’t like this, mom”), Crab Roe and Pork Xiao Long Bao (“No mom, I don’t want the Pork Xiao Long Bao. Let’s try the Crab Roe), Chicken Wings with Shrimp Paste (“Mom, we have to try this! Mmmmm this tastes like comfort food!”). That’s our baby, introducing: Jodie the Foodie!
P.S. I’m not fond of the term foodie. I don’t even consider myself as one because honestly, I just really like to eat. I know nothing about the science of cooking or pairings; of textures or flavors. What I do know is what tastes good for me. But, for the lack of a better term, I am naming this series as: Jodie the Foodie as Jodie slowly unleashes her decisiveness in choosing what to eat and her knack of describing what it tastes like (thanks to countless hours watching Food Network and Asian Food Channel).
