… Mushroom and cheese-filled puff pastries
I just discovered the wonders of ready-to-use puff pastry. Experimented and baked these with baby portabello, bacon, Emmenthal and mozzarella inside the puffy, flaky pastry.
… Crispy Pork Binagoongan
A dish of Crispy Pork belly sauteed in a bed of shrimp paste, chilies and tomatoes. I follow this recipe and its the version I like the best.
… Chicken ala Kiev
I’m giving myself a pat in the back for a successful Chicken ala Kiev! For this dish, I measured success by: First, the moist chicken breast (it wasn’t dry at all! Yahoo!). Second, the golden brown fry (which I was able to keep consistent for all 4 pieces). Lastly and the MOST IMPORTANT, the butter oozing out once I cut through the chicken breast. That yellow puddle on my plate is testament to that. And it was the same for all 4 pieces! P.S. When I was in college one of my fondest lunch memory was this restaurant along Katipunan called Full House. My friends and I would trek all the way there from UP just to just to have their Chicken ala Kiev. YUMMY!
… Asian Meat Balls
Tried out something new: Asian Meatballs (a recipe I found in an old yummy.ph cookbook). It was supposed to be served over some rice noodles, but I just used rice hahahaha so happy that the household loved it!
Basic ingredients for the meatballs are ground pork, ginger, garlic, green onion and patis (fish sauce). For the sauce, gata, lemongrass, ginger, shallots, chilies, cilantro and patis again.
